Meet our (medical marijuana) moms…

Marijuana Mother Plants
These are some of our medical marijuana mother plants, all of them grown from seeds with known genetics.

Wait, what’s a “mother” you ask?

Mother plant: a plant grown for the specific purpose of taking cuttings (children) to grow a larger quantity of the same plant.

Once our moms have served their purpose we start a new mom from seed (for quality and genetic control) and flower out the old one. If you have (or will ever) flower out a mother plant you will find it to be one of the bushiest (highest yielding) plants you’ve ever grown.

If you want to read a great article on selecting a mother plant (instead of starting from seed) head over to High Times and read their article “Insider’s Grow: Selecting a Mother Plant“.

Keep in mind that you can start a mother from a mother, but we don’t recommend you do that too many times (generations) as a mother a few generations down the line can be different from the (original) mother plant.

The purple light you see in the second  image is not disco related (but our moms do like music), it’s an LED grow light. We have been using it for several months now and the major advantage has been a reduction in electricity consumption. The yet to be answered question is will the electricity savings offset the higher cost of LED lights.

We’ll let you know.

This is a BIG Freaking deal!…

Maine Medical Marijuana Caregiver
Yesterday we got some seriously important news when it comes to cannabis research, in a post by US News and World Report a “Major Pot Research Barrier Goes Up in Smoke” because the Obama Whitehouse has decided to drop the requirement that required researchers to “submit proposed pot studies to the U.S. Public Health Service for review, ending a hurdle that delayed – sometimes for years – private and state-funded research into marijuana’s medical value.”

This is a very important step down the path of knowledge, so that we can finally have a real scientific approach, discovery and openness as to what cannabis really can do for us.

Major Pot Research Barrier Goes Up in Smoke” was written by Steven Nelson and is well worth the read.

The Importance of good customer service…

When it comes to our patients everything we do for and with them is important to us.

Not the least of which is the customer service we provide after the sale.

Not only do we take the time answer every question, text and phone call in a VERY timely fashion, we also email our patients after EVERY interaction to make sure that all is well, to make sure they are happy with the quality of the medical marijuana, happy with the quality of service they received from us, to make sure they are happy with their entire experience with us and our cannabis.

We were recently pleasantly surprised to get a voice mail from a patient after sending them an email and we wanted to share it with you (with their permission).

So if you are a medical marijuana patient and were wondering what it would be like “do business” with us, to be one of our patients please take the time to listen to this audio file, it won’t take long, it is just under 40 seconds.

Inventory of clones updated today…

Our custom cannabis strain Purple Rain
Our inventory of available clones has been updated as of this morning (4/8).

In this update we are proud to introduce our own custom strain of medical marijuana called “Purple Rain” which is a high THC all Indica cross of G-13 and Granddaddy Purple.

It was a strange phenotype of the G-13 that gave its flowers cherry red nodes here and there so we tried crossing it with Granddaddy Purple to see if we could get a plant that would turn purple no matter the temperature, most will have purple streaks in the bud (which actually looks like purple rain fell on them, hence the name). You will see really pretty purple when flowering.

Both of the images on this post are of our “Purple Rain“.

So check out our inventory page to see what we have available.

‘Marijuana refugees’ parents seeking help for their sick children…

Marijuana Refugees

Marijuana refugees” is the latest story to be added to our “Cannabis in The News“, it’s a story about the Frederick family who had to move from Illinois to Colorado so they could have access to cannabis oil, which they wanted to try it in an effort control their daughters seizures, seizures that would sometimes number 100 in a single day.

Amazingly after their daughter started receiving CBD oil her seizures nearly disappeared.

My first thought was why not get CBD oil and give it a try without picking up your family, disrupting your life and moving states away and their answer made a great deal of sense, because medical marijuana was not legal in Illinois they were afraid that if they were caught trying to bring it into the state government officials might challenge their fitness as parents and they could have their daughter taken away.

It’s an inspiring story and deserves to be heard, so check out the full “Marijuana Refugees” story on our “Cannabis in The News” page.

Our review of The Cannabis Strain Directory…

Today we are reviewing The Cannabis Strain Directory and it could very well be a super short review, summing it up in just two words “Love It!“.

Maine Medical Marijuana
And there’s lots to love about it, starting with IT’S FREE.

But there’s so much more to The Cannabis Strain Directory, starting with the fact that there are (currently) almost 1300 strains listed and because the list is updated so frequently every time The Cannabis Strain Directory launches it checks for updates to the database, so you’ll always be current when it comes to available cannabis strains.

Maine Medical Marijuana
You will find detailed and useful information on all of the listed strains and there are so many search options — you can search by breeder, you can search by strain, and (my favorite) you can search by disease. Once you’ve chosen a given disease you can then select the option to “show all strains that treat these symptoms“.

Maine Medical Marijuana
And once you have those strains listed you have even more options, like “the overview” which gives a quick peak at all the applicable strains for the selected disease process.

Maine Medical Marijuana
But wait there’s more, the “Hemp Bible” is included, you can email strain information to clients and patients, you can bookmark strains you have researched for quick reference later, you will find growing tips, tricks, tutorials and much much more.

Because the software is free its development is supported by the occasional banner ad integrated into the software, but they are few, out of the way and in no way interfere with or make the use of the The Cannabis Strain Directory difficult or cumbersome to use.

Sorry Apple users but The Cannabis Strain Directory is currently a Windows only program.

And one more slight “glitch“, when you go to download the program be sure to select the option to “download program + database” or “program only” as these links will provided you the latest version of the software (3.2), but the “Download Now” button will take you to Download.com and for some reason gives you an older version (2.2).

Cannabis Strain Directory
Bottom line The Cannabis Strain Directory is extremely useful and gets two thumbs way up.

If you have used The Cannabis Strain Directory please leave a comment and let us (and our readers) know what you think program and what your experience has been.
